Dear Blue Martians,
A while back I signed up for the Blue Mars beta.
I admit, initially had some misgivings. I mean Blue Mars is a strange choice for a name. First, you have Mars, who is the God of War, and who is so damned masculine that his symbol is literally also the symbol for Male-ness. Thoughtfully, you have incorporated that symbol right into your logo...…

"So Talky, what's the word about Second Life 2.0?" asked T Linden, dropping some restaurant sugar into a chipped blue Pets.com mug. "Are we getting some good tweets about that? Got to get some good tweets about that."
"Not really," admitted Talky...

A recent presentation on economic and usage statistics by T Linden has shed more insight into the economics and demographics on Second Life.
Given these numbers, it's fair to say that the shared online space has now achieved in many respects the political and economic situation of a Third World nation...

Missing the Second Life Community Convention?
Experience it how your fellow avatars did.
Philip Linden's Twitter Updates
The Twitter-verse has not fully embraced Second Life's sandy-haired former CEO, Philip "Philip Linden" Rosedale, and frankly that makes me as angry as a podcaster on Zindra.

I was checking my Twitter today when I came across a discussion about whether or not Second Life should implement some sort of 'achievements' system to encourage player participation and community involvement, similar to what is done on Xbox Live.
It just so happens my "source" in the Lab has leaked an early draft of an achievements proposal from Linden Lab.
Hmm, I think it needs some work...

It was recently announced that the keynote speaker at this year's Second Life Community Convention will be none other than transhumanist spokesbeing Ray Kurzweil. While Ray's talks can be rather visionary and erudite, I've been told by a confidential source that he was asked to "tone it down a bit" so the bondage bed salesmen could enjoy it too. And he's complied, judging by this ad…

The tireless staff of Tiny Dancing is forever perusing the Linden Lab Employment Opportunities for a new job insight into the future direction of Second Life.
With the recent hullabaloo over the decision to banish all adult content to a new, as-yet-unnamed continent (we suggest "Kanomiland"), we weren't surprised to see the following classified ad appear recently on the site...

This a short review of the game The Kaaos Effect, available within Second Life on Orange Island. Both the game and the review are real, which cannot be said for most of the rest of the content on this blog, which is entirely imaginary and should only be read by trained professionals...

This week Linden Lab donned its best BDSM latex Master's gear and pronounced a shoveling of all adult-oriented content to some as-yet unbuilt sexual ghetto. Possibly this new Red Light island will be named Pervopolis or Fruitopia or Freakville. We just don't know.
Fortunately, we at Tiny Dancing have been leaked an early, first draft of the FAQ, whose answers might prove a little more illuminating...
Second Life has always been an open environment; is Linden Lab deciding to abandon that pri…

I made a blog post about the wonderful article the NY Times Sunday Magazine did about the art scene in SL. Here is a portion of it:
"Another annoying but regularly recurring type of article is of the "I tried Second Life but I just don't get it!" variety, as if a failed attempt to use a piece of online software is something worth publishing and of interest to an avid reading public..."

A logjam of new "SLang" hot off the grid!
A few of the more amusing expressions I've invented heard lately; like most slang these words tend to focus on the earthier and more comical aspects of SL. Enjoy!
bfotw: Boyfriend of the week; as in: "Who's that guy?" / "Oh that's Jord's bfotw!"
Caledrone: the never ending stream of conversation in the Caledon resident's group, as in: "I tried to ask about some property but my question was lost in the Caledrone..."
earhole: the nearly invisi…

Second Life resident Bunnypet Hugsalot finally completed her application to the Land of Snakes and Honey Gorean roleplay today. She finished reading seventy notecards, filled out fourteen separate forms, and agreed to install the Comet Cursor spyware virus in order to be permitted to wear the newbie outfit and proceed onto the sim.
She was promptly yelled at then ignored.

Wikipedia has been completely penetrated by the anti-scale New World Order propaganda machine. Both Wikipedia and Wagner James Au have proved themselves dubious. The Avastar still refuses to publish its articles about Internets in a format people on the Internet can read. Who can we trust, anymore?

The Linden who is our guest speaker can talk about whatever he or she wants to talk about, we're not too picky. Mostly we just a want to Linden to show up at our event because some of the younger dancers don't even believe there is such a thing as a Linden, they think we are making up stories, like how you tell children that if they don't put that broken tooth under their pillow they will be eaten by angry, legless frogs.…
