Once upon a time in a far away place filled with dreamers, artists, musicians, programmers and scripters, there was a magical city called San Francisco. A group of dreamers got together and created a special place called Second Life. Then they invited others to join them, and those beta creators made this world that we live in today.

As a company-placed avatar, I was quickly taught that regular business practices do not work in this world. SL is more about sharing information and networking together much like the internet itself. This is the power of sharing. And that power is what drives SL towards a successful future.

ABOUT WET GROUPS:
I have formed (5) separate groups in-world: W.E.T. River Trips (open to public/mostly our own avies), RAFTING (open to public), whitewater (open to public), WET Builders (invite only), and now the new The A List!.

The A List!:
The A List! group has taken off unexpectedly! We are not competing with clubs, promoters, sims, venues, event planners, designers, retailers or other networking entities. We are a group of like-minded individuals who truly want to see Second Life survive the economic downturn. We want to see prosperity on the grid, so we have all joined forces to network and share our resources and information.

WET BUILDERS:
Bisque and Archan are up for sale. I never use the two sims anymore. All WET Builder's stores are now on Chartreuse where the ever so cool Pixel Dolls store is right next to my cake store and outdoor garden sculptures. All whitewater rafting, paddling and surfing is on the two regions, WETLands and RiverLand. (1) vendor space is available on RiverLand. (1) vendor space available on WETLands. Send a notecard as IM's get capped.

Mainland properties include our WET Builder's practice lands and oceanfront rentals. Contact me soon to place your products or advertising in our vendor and retail spaces.

THANK YOU!
Big thanks to all the club owners, dj's, musicians, artists, performers and party animals! You guys make it very special in SL. The party makers, the event planners and I want to hear from you and your ideas. Let me know how we can network and market both in SL and RL.

NOTE: I am learning how to make videos. SO FUN! Here is the first one I ever did using still photos... not quite up to speed on the machinima yet... but I'm working on it!

I really, really love dancing! My best friend in SL made this video recently : God is a DJ Yes, I love the DJ's... they make the party happen!

Groups from Second Life

I belong to a lot of different groups in Second Life. Mostly, business or related interests... and I have started several for the same reasons.

My small groups for rafting and whitewater are small and quiet. Paddlers tend to be that way. But, I also own and blog… Continue

RiverLand and WETLands

Both sims are finally opened to the public. Though I had to close RiverLand for a couple days this week for another project. LOL! The projects will never really be done... there is always improvement, new ideas and sudden inspirations that will change the landscape, terrain again.

Most sims are constantly evolving... especially sims that are owned by an avatar with a lot of passion for the concepts. I think about builders over at SL Botanical Gardens that are always adding new areas for… Continue

Second Life Work

Not a day goes by that I don't hear from an older avi who tells me how they gave up their land, their business in Second Life just to go back to having fun on the grid. I know what they mean. I think I work harder in here than I do in real life.

Virtual Education

I've been reading comments on forums across the internet regarding virtual education. Some have been quite defensive and other comments have been more scholarly. The debate continues with Second Life leading the charge.… Continue

S&S Gallery by Stefanik Dagostino

I took a bit of a break this past month. Just a way to refocus and get ready for the spring rush of changes on the Second Life grid. It seems to me that the grid is hopping with new sims, new places, new clubs, new events and a reassurance that we are not going to let the economy of the world stop us from creating, networking and enjoying this place.

;^) ty Dale! apology accepted... you made my day! i know what you mean though... there are days when i just want to throw in the towel. i work really hard here, building & learning. my focus has changed drastically since that early '07 rezz day. you cant be a corp avie in here... trying to sell stuff. i agree. so what i do now is just make peeps aware of the great outdoors and water; oceans, rivers, streams, waterfalls...

that awareness helps the world define their priorities. do we dam rivers? do we pollute oceans? do we destroy and divert rivers instead of creating cities w/ them flowing through it? take a look throughout the world now. it is the small, passionate industry of rafting that made this happen. we are grassroots with the inc or llc behind it, only because of liability issues... hey, it's a high risk activity.

in norcal, our grassroots movement took down the powerful special interest of the Auburn Dam... thank you Friends of the River. that organization is made up of us. passionate rafters who basically love to party on the river and the reverence we have for water is all consuming.

marketing can be used for good causes and good things; ie, obama! that was a grassroots endeavor networked across the internet. so i bring my passion for SL and water and rivers to this network.

i fell in love here first with the grid, the avies and now my partner, xavi. he is brilliant and has been here a long time. what i dont want to do is what you suggest; come here in hiding. nope. there are already lots of avies in here that are kayakers, rafters, surfers, etc. they are here to have fun and maybe network together.

in my contract w/ the company... i own my avie. in other words, my avie is mine forever. (i made sure of that... hehe) so if i change jobs or get fired, miz rafee lives on. i hope you understand one thing from our exchanges. i love second life... and my land is mine, my creations are mine. (hey, i saw your stuff... you are an awesome builder!)

and yes, the co is for profit. thats a good thing, cause thats why i dont have to stress about money in here. but our entire co and rl team is totally connected to every non-profit river conservation group in the country. and we support them... 100%.

I'm so sorry! I didn't realize there was a single person to be hurt behind the AV. :) Somewhere on one of your sites that I read (I can't find it now of course) I got the impression that there were multiple people behind the AV, sort of "whoever Marketing has assigned to Second Life this month" sort of thing. If you really are a single person, I apologize deeply for having hurt you, and would love to talk to you one-on-one inworld sometime.

Still, though, isn't it sort of odd to be a "corporate AV"? I mean, if you had a new opportunity and changed jobs tomorrow, wouldn't there still be a "RAFTWET Jewell" in SL, placed by the same company but with someone else behind her? I would feel strange friending a company rather than a person that way. :) I hope you can at least partly understand that feeling; I'm sure I'm not the only person that feels that way. It's no reflection at all on you personally, or anything that you've said or done; it's the whole notion of being friends with a "company AV" that feels odd. From a marketing point of view, I think the notion of a "company AV" taking part in social spaces is a mistake; it would be better for each employee to have their own personal AV and be social in that context. Time will tell if I'm right. :)

I'm somewhat puzzled about the nature of your company: are you a for-profit enterprise that sells river trips in California (as the ad at the top of your profile suggests), or are you a group committed to river conservation? I'd be interested in hearing more about that.

And apologies again for any unintended hurt I may have caused.

sigh... one avie, one person (not nameless, just need privacy from avies who hurt others) ... not sure why she didnt just ignore me...
but, it really hurt my feelings.
only thing im "selling" is awareness of world wide river conservation and clean recreation.
its in my profile, my blogs, too... never hid that fact.
i leave you in peace and wish you well in all life.

Thanks for the friend request; unfortunately I don't really make friends with corporate avatars who exist only to sell me things. :) If any of you nameless people behind RAFTWET would ever like to talk, drop me a line!
