Second Life Bloggers

Second Life® Bloggers :: Blogging the metaverse one post at a time....

I've used both, and I have to say that I have been mostly swallowed up by Plurk. However, only some Second Life bloggers seem to be there.

My thoughts after having used Plurk extensively for a few weeks are that it is tremendously easier to have conversations in Plurk yet it still has a basic "broadcast" capability similar to Twitter. There aren't as many people in Plurk as Twitter yet, but maybe that will change in the future. In spite of fewer people being there, responses arrive much faster in Plurk than Twitter, and my blog gets significant traffic from Plurk. Oh, and it stays up all the time too, at least for now.

If you haven't tried it yet, I encourage you to do so. You can find my page at: http://tinyurl.com/6d9ytz.

ProBlogger has a good analysis here too: http://tinyurl.com/6dlk6z

What do other bloggers think about this question? Is it Plurk or Twitter? Or both?

I personally never liked Twitter. I tried to give it a go but it just seems like a huge pain to keep up with all the discussions by going through pages and pages of tweets and it all feels kinda cluttered to me. My favourite thing on Twitter is the Phail Whale.

However on Plurk i've suddenly found something that I love. Unlike Twitter I just can't stop plurking. Plurk however is new and has no API so there aren't many third party applications that currently exist. I really love the fact that you can view plurks that have only been replied to so you can find out what has happened in a thread since you last looked so you are less likely to not find out whats going on). I also love the timeline. The Karma system is ok since it rewards those who are active in the community such as new emotions and stuff.

In my opinion Plurk is the best.

I just started Plurk too and find it a lot easier to keep conversations going too. Not to mention just hitting return to update. It's also not suffering from failwhale-style errors yet.

Interesting to note that the first 2 commenters came from Plurk not Twitter. That's the kind of effect I am seeing. It just seems to be more effective.

as a noob to the social media, and to baring my soul in any way to the metaverse, i was enchanted with Twitter, and it still beeps and tweets at me from a variety of computers. I like Plurk's horizontal layout and the way it reveals conversation streams across time. I have yet to get it to alert me to new posts, so I have to intentionally check it. For posting, I recently started using Ping.fm to post to Twitter, Plurk and a widget on my blog, which seems efficient for updates across platforms.

Veyron is amused with Plurk.... But then, she can be easily amused sometimes....

I am really enjoying Plurk, mostly because it is so much easier to have a conversation with a couple hundred of your closest friends. I rarely check or post to Twitter anymore. I met some great people via Twitter, but with Plurk, I feel like I actually get to know them better. Count my vote on the plurk side, please and thanks.

I also signed up to twitter with another name than the SL one, but I'm a geek ;) so I didn't stop there LOL. I have an account as Lila too. The other account isn't a secret, so if anyone follows me on both, I'll tell who I am, but I try to keep SL and RL seperate.
