Serene's post about ettiquette over her Fae articles got me thinking about another question thats arisen for me. I've started a fashion blog for Mens freebie fashion http://freeformen.wordpress.com/ and I've already started to get designers sending reccs to me.
But what do I do when a reccommendation is awful? I don't just mean a garment that's not to my taste, but one that's actually badly made, with poor textures, mis-matched seams etc? Should I just not review such an item like that at all? Review it but don't give my personal opinion of it? Review it and tell the whole gory truth?
Or doesn't it matter when the outfit only costs L$1 anyway? If it had come from a box out of a freebie warehouse I'd be inclined to say it doesn't matter. But what about a store's own freebie offer, where it's meant to be promoting the quality of the store's products? It certainly doesn't inspire me to want to spend lindens in a place like that.
Generally, I only blog about things I personally like or can appreciate in some way unless something is truely terrible and I think the SL public should be warned about it. I don't accept reccs, contributions, swag or anything from the places I blog about tho...I think that makes me objective as I don't feel I owe anyone anything that way. I think it's your blog so you should do what you feel is best for it overall. As long as the blog isn't overwhelmed by negativity, I don't think your readers would mind if you told them the truth.
I think that it should be up to the person reading to decide what they want to go get for 1L or free or 1000L , you don't have to blog it if you think it is poor quality, but again that poor quality could be exactly what someone is looking for , even in part a shirt or pants or even just a belt might be a missing ingredient for them, also quality is based largely on experience , if the designer/creator is new then they have the chance to improve , maybe point out to them constructively in IM what you think might be deemed as flaws in the product that may help them improve on it.
Im putting your blog on my links list because its an awesome blog men are not looked after enough
Cajsa and I adopted a review policy when we started getting items to review. We publish it on the blog. Our stance is that MOST of the time we're just talking about items we love - truthfully what we put on that day (yeah we dress like that all the time). But when we receive review items - if they are poor we go back to the designer and share our concerns. If our concerns are not fixable etc, we do reserve the right not to review your items. We like our blog to be upbeat and positive, about things we like. We also reserve the right to review your items WHEN we are able to get to them, and with other things as it works out for us.

Our review policy is at the top.
