Second Life® Bloggers :: Blogging the metaverse one post at a time....

Hi my name is Serene Fairey and I'm a blogaholic. I read blogs. I write blogs. I have my own non-fashion SL blog ( http://serendipity-waits.blogspot.com/ ) and I contribute fashion articles to http://iheartsl.com/ as well. I give articles to their site because my own was never intended to pump clothes etc. As a side benefit, I know that iheartsl has greater readership because it is fed to Fashion World of SL ( http://fashionplanet.worldofsl.com/ ). ...Over the last couple of days I wrote two articles on a fae fashion theme, the first about my three favorite sets of wings, the second about my three favorite sets of elf ears. When the first article was not fed through to Fashion Planet, I figured it was probably some oversight or computer glitch. When the second was not fed either, I began to suspect that it must be a deliberate choice on the part of the gentleman who runs Fashion Planet. You be the judge: you can read the apparently offensive articles here http://iheartsl.com/author/serenefairey/ ... here's my question: do you thing it wasn't fed because I made gauche comparisons between the quality of the products? Do the Fashion Feeds exist to serve the needs of the customers, or of the designers? Is it just an unspoken rule that you never point out the flaws in any work? ... what do you think? I did not intend to offend. Remember that I said up front that these products were my favorites in spite of any implied flaws.

I don't know if that is why the articles weren't listed. I sent an email but no reply so far, I didnt't want to step on anyone's toes. I will continue reading his site myself because I find out about new blogs there and its a one stop place to find new posts on many blogs.

Maybe the fashion people are afraid of these niche markets because if "fantasy avatars" start catching on and taking over, there will be less need for the traditional mainstream attire that has already flooded the market. My avatar is a full-time fae as well, and in certain circles, it seems as though we are being snubbed by the regular avatars. Maybe not quite as much as the furries, who have been persecuted for quite sometime, but snubbed none the less. Some people are afraid of post-human evolution it seems, and wings, hooves, faeries, drows, demonesses, centaurs, alternative genders and expressions of these. I will admit that since I became a fantasy avatar, I have spent less money shopping for clothing... although lately, I have found some wonderful creations on Butterfly Island that I am very pleased with. I do make some of my own clothing as well, but I don't sell it... I just like to give stuff to my friends, who in return share their stuff. As more people become interested in fantasy avatars, it will increase the demand for more specialized fantasy avatar clothing. You can contact me in-world btw... my name is Aaeodama Starostin and I would be happy to give you landmarks to some of the places that I have found. *hugs* :) P.S. maybe we can start a faerie group here in Secondlife bloggers now that more of us are showing up. hooo!

Well I don't think they are avoiding fantasy theme fashion, because I see posts by Fancy Fairy and Illusions feed through his site.

Hi Serene,

Do you have any other way to get in touch with the editor? There's a billion reasons your articles may not have run. Think on the bright side. The editor may have broken his or her leg. ;)

That's what I thought at first. Thing is, the article before mine and the acticle after mine fed just fine. Both days. I don't get it.

Anyway not the end of the world I know .. I just don't want it to continue with future entries.

I don't see anything offensive at all in your articles. The only thing I can think of is that the Fashion Planet blog does not want to run articles for anything except ordinary human fashion.

Serene don't despair, there is no way that it didn't show on the feed because of content , fashion planet is a feed , Tao doesn't sit there and screen everything before it is listed, the poor guy would be sitting in the corner dribbling if that was the case.

What may have happened is that ihearts had a glitch and missed a beat possibly and due to that dramatic pause the feed of the planet didn't grab it in time or something to that effect, also did you check the whole feed? there are situations being discussed recently about the feed and how due to times and all sorts of things what you think should be at the top may drop down a few blogs and get caught in the middle

there are hundreds of blogs on that feed and a percentage of them do reviews that may or may not look kindly in the favour of the designer , that is not why it didnt appear.

also i noticed on your posts you didnt categorise those posts , and i seem to remember way back in the day of the start of ihearts something about needing to so it knew where to go that might be all it is , I would speak to Gorgeous Yongho and ask her if the site was having any hitches the last few days , and also ask her if she minds you posting it again and this time with a category or maybe something isnt ticked or dotted , who knows but rest assured its not the feed deciding your post is not feed worthy :o)

Thank you dear I just got upset when three in a row didn't feed your tip was good

*smacks head and there is a coconut-like sound* turns out that there was a technical reason why they would not feed. If I changed the articles from "Unclassified" and filed them under "Fashion" and applied the tag "Fashion" they feed OK.
